I have always had a thing for spirals… And Tim Burton. Whenever I see a twirling font or an extravagant trim to a metal gate, I think of him. I’d like to believe my predilection came from myself, but I truly don’t know if it predated watching Tim Burton films or was inspired by them. That is what brought me to this bit of code.

Nightmare before christmas

Then our assignment for visual language was working with color and HSB, hue, brightness and saturation. My project for the class was a Quincy Warhol, my cat as an Andy Warhol picture – you can see it and the documentation in a post from a few days ago. It’s interactive and cute, but playing with HSB lingered on in my mind so I decided to do a second p5.js project. Here is the code below.

The spiral quickly comes to life and trickles across the screen like small, rainbow colored raindrops making a Tibetan mandala of sorts. Here is the final image below.
